‘Dar’ is the Moroccan Arabic word for a medina house. Dar Aqiba was built approximately 400 years ago, according to documents in the possession of Lalla Maria its owner. It has been home to many scholars, poets and sheiks. It is said to possess ‘baraka’, a blessing which touches those who live there. Two inscriptions engraved at the entrance to the grand salon attest to this with their Arabic inscriptions,
