At Dar Aqiba, you can experience the real Fez, with its busy streets, its great number of mosques and its incredible wealth of artisans and craftsmen. During the day, you’ll find the busy rhythm of everyday Fassi life, and by night the serene, mystic feeling of tranquility. Relax on your private roof terrace, let the calls to prayer from a myriad of Fez mosques awaken your senses, as you sip a drink in your Moroccan home and review the experiences of your day. ‘Dar’ is the Moroccan Arabic word for a medina house. Dar Aqiba was built approximately 400 years ago, according to documents in the possession of Lalla Maria its owner. It has been home to many scholars, poets and sheiks. It is said to possess ‘baraka’, a blessing which touches those who live there. Two inscriptions engraved at the entrance to the grand salon attest to this with their Arabic inscriptions, He who enters this house is protected by Allah and Be happy with what God has given you.
